Our Story

Peter's great, great, great, grandfather, Thomas Gamlin, and his brother Israel knew John Muir.  If you know the history of the Grant Grove area in Kings Canyon National Park, then you know the name Gamlin.  Peter's ancestors lived in the fallen Monarch and then built a cabin out of the wood from a fallen Sequoia.  Both the Fallen Monarch and the Gamlin cabin are less than a stones throw from the General Grant Tree, the Nation's Christmas Tree.  Peter's father was a naturalist with the National Park Service, and Peter grew up in the Giant Forest area of Sequoia National Park.  He shares his father's love of "The Big Trees"

"Old, They were old when the world was young!"

John Muir
